There is a distinct weight in holding a stone newly drawn from the ground—still cold, still carrying the red grit of the vein where it crystallized. No synthetic glaze, no heat treatment, no attempt to make it look like something it isn’t. Just raw quartz, shaped over geological time and resting beneath layers of clay, sandstone, and roots.
Recently, our team traveled to the source, working along natural quartz veins to uncover these specimens entirely by hand.
Step 1: Into the Red Earth
The search begins with the ground beneath our feet. Equipped with hand chisels and work gloves, we worked deliberately through mineral-rich clay and fractured rock, tracing the seam rather than forcing it open.
At first, the terrain offers few clues—dense soil, compacted earth, and pale host rock. Then a fractured, translucent facet catches the daylight.
That first glimpse changes the pace of everything. You set the heavier tools aside and clear the soil by hand; even the smallest exposed termination can signal an intact crystal resting just beneath.
Step 2: The Moment of Discovery
As the surrounding silt fell away, the full prism began to emerge.
Coated in a stubborn crust of iron-rich clay, the point revealed sharp natural angles, horizontal growth striations, and internal veils formed under heat and pressure.
Before washing, before cutting, before the studio lights, this was the stone in its raw state.
That raw stage anchors our sourcing philosophy. A natural crystal isn’t an engineered ornament; its fractures, inclusions, and asymmetrical facets are tangible records of the environment in which it formed.
Step 3: Revealing the Inner Form
The reveal requires little more than clean water and time.
Rinsing away the clay brought the quartz into sharp relief.
Backlit in the dark, the transition was immediate: a milky, dense base gave way to greater clarity near the apex, illuminated by deep internal fractures and veils.
Nothing was added; nothing was polished away. The water simply revealed what the earth had already formed.
